MyFood Delivery App Privacy Policy

Last updated: 18 October 2026

This policy explains how MyFood Delivery (listed on Google Play as MyFoodDelivery V5 Ordering App) handles information when you find takeaways, check delivery availability and request reopening alerts. The operator responsible for this service is Jason & Patricia Scoltock t/a MyFood.Delivery. For privacy questions or deletion requests, email [email protected].

App versions covered

The feature descriptions below cover the rebuilt MyFood Delivery app, version 5.0.5. The older Android version 1.0 opens MyFood and ordering websites inside an embedded browser. In that version, information entered into website forms is handled within that browser: this can include your name, email, phone number, delivery address, order items and instructions, and payment information sent to the checkout/payment provider. Website cookies and browser storage also apply. The older app includes camera and file-selection support for website upload fields; any file you choose to upload is sent to the destination website. The rebuilt app opens checkout in your separate browser and does not request camera or storage permissions.

Finding takeaways and checking delivery

You can enter a postcode, town or address, or choose to use your current location. The updated website and app address search sends your search text and selected suggestion through MyFood.delivery to Google Maps to find matching places. A temporary random search reference groups suggestions and selection. The search service does not save an address history. Website search-result URLs contain the selected search text and coordinates, which may remain in browser history and normal server access logs. Earlier rebuilt app versions use your phone’s geocoding services for typed searches. Current-location lookup uses your phone’s location and geocoding services to calculate nearby takeaway distances. These providers process search text or coordinates under their privacy policies. Location access is foreground only; the app does not track your movements in the background.

Google Maps address search is also subject to the Google Maps terms and Google privacy policy.

When you provide a full street address, the app sends the address, postcode, city and region to the ordering partners shown in the results to check their delivery areas. This happens before you choose a takeaway. Postcode-only, town and current-location searches do not send an invented street address for delivery checks. Your search and location are held in the app’s current session, rather than saved as a native-app address history.

Reopening alerts

Alerts are optional phone notifications, not emails. A scheduled opening-time reminder is stored on your phone. For an alert when a takeaway resumes ordering or deliveries, the app registers a push token, app platform and chosen alert with that takeaway. Expo and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging deliver Android push notifications; Apple notification services deliver supported iPhone notifications. These providers process notification identifiers and message data to deliver the alert.

You can cancel an alert by tapping its Alert set control in the app. Remote subscription data remains with the takeaway until cancellation succeeds or its notification batch is accepted by the push service. There is currently no fixed expiry for a waiting remote subscription. Disabling notifications in phone settings stops display but does not itself remove the server subscription. Uninstalling the app does not delete records held by a takeaway or service provider.

Opening menus, ordering and app attribution

Menus and checkout open in your external browser. The link includes the app platform, campaign/source labels, a random launch reference and its start time so the destination can identify traffic from the app. A supporting ordering website may associate this with an order to record that it started from the app, including eligibility checks for separately announced app-order promotions. A tracked visit does not itself enter you into a competition; the published competition terms determine eligibility.

The takeaway website controls its basket, checkout, payments, accounts, cookies and order records. Consult its privacy policy before ordering. The native app does not receive your payment-card details or maintain a separate customer account or order database. Browser attribution and order records can remain after you close or uninstall the app.

Device storage and technical requests

The Android notification service can initialise automatically and create a Firebase installation identifier before you choose a reopening alert. Google processes installation identifiers and technical device/app information to operate that service. Permission to display notifications and registration for a particular takeaway alert are separate choices.

The app caches the public takeaway directory and stores selected alert details and push tokens on your device. Clearing app storage removes these local records, but first cancel any remote alerts you no longer want. Requests to MyFood, takeaway sites and service providers expose normal connection information such as IP addresses and request timing to those services; their security and operational logs may retain this information. We do not describe these requests as anonymous or guarantee that all processing is memory-only.

Purposes, providers and security

Information is used to provide search, delivery checks, notifications, app-order attribution and service security. Takeaway operators receive information needed for delivery checks and their ordering services. Hosting, geocoding and notification providers process information needed to operate those features. Network requests to the configured MyFood and partner services use HTTPS. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.

Providers may process data outside the United Kingdom. Their applicable privacy terms describe their processing and transfer arrangements. See Expo’s privacy policy, Google’s privacy policy and Apple’s privacy policy.

Your choices and privacy requests

You can choose not to use current-location lookup, deny location or notification permissions, cancel alerts and clear local app storage. Updated app builds do not require location permission for typed address search; earlier builds may require it on Android. You can also visit a takeaway’s website directly.

For access, correction, deletion or other privacy requests, contact [email protected]. Tell us which service or takeaway your request concerns; do not send payment-card details. Some order and related records may need to be retained for legal, accounting or dispute purposes. Takeaway website records are handled by the relevant operator. You can also raise a concern with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
